Transfer user data from old version

Last change: Oct 26, 2022

The current version of SYMplus™ uses different default directory paths for system and user data than older versions:

SYMplus™ with plusCARE™:

V6.0:

V5.2 and older:

When installing version 5.2 and older, different options for the user data were still offered, which occasionally led to installation errors. In principle, however, the path to the user data was also stored in the dir.dat file in the system data for older versions.

If you want to use user data of an older installation for V6.0 or SYMplus plusCARE™, you should backup the directory to which this file dir.dat refers. This way you can restore essential files from this backup to the new installation:

The default paths here point to subdirectories of .\data where these files, among others, are located:

Geometry files: *.ws1
Routing files: *.ap1
Macro files: *.mk1
Setup sheets: *.bl1
Parameter sets of postprocessors: *.ps1
turrets/magazines: *.rv1
Settings for serial file transfer to the machine: *.tr1
PAL programs: *.CNC (main programs), *.CNL (subprograms), *.CN1 (G1/G2/G3 geometry exercise)
NC programs for specific controllers: individual file extensions

Do not copy the files from the .data\steuerun subfolder with the extension *.dll from an older installation to a V6.0 installation or SYMplus plusCARE™ installation. These postprocessor files are updated with each version and are now part of the system data!
