Postprocessor: Adaptations for the SINUMERIK on a CTX

Last change: Jul 24, 2023

SIEMENS allows the control manufacturers numerous individual adaptations.

Experience has shown, for example, that DMG uses a different function for activating tool compensation for the SINUMERIK controls on the CTX series of lathes, namely TC(1) instead of D1, and other M functions for coolant. You can set up this in SYMplus™ via the postprocessor set.

To do this, change the default PP to the SINUMERIK 840D sl / 828D (the file is called S828DXX0.PS1) or first create a copy of this file (via F1 File > F5 Management > F4 Postprocessor parameter set > ...) and change the copy.

F1 File > F8 Postprocessor parameters > F2 Modify (or Change) > F1 Postprocessor parameter set > Mark the desired file > F10 OK > F10 OK.

Now 6 submenus from F1 General machine parameters to F6 NC blocks are available.

Under "F1 General machine parameters" switch 'Correction' to 'TC()' and in the field on the right in the line switch to 'T|GSM'. Then close this dialog with F10.

Correction TC

Under "F4 Coolant, ..." change the functions for 'Coolant on' to 'M108' and for 'Coolant off' to 'M109'. If necessary, also change the M function for 'High pressure' and add M functions for a parts catcher if your machine has one and you know the functions.

Matter of taste:
Under 'F5 File management' you can, among other things, switch off the block numbering, because SIEMENS does not necessarily require this, or you can set a different increment via '1st block number' and 'Block number increment'. In addition to 'Yes' and 'No', the 'Block numbering' switch also gives you the option of having block numbers output only at each tool change ('Only T') or at each technology change ('T or S').
