Theoretical roughness depth (Turning)

Last change: Nov 13, 2023

For turning, there is a formula for the theoretical roughness depth with Rth = f²/8r, which is also used in SYMplus™. To do this, call up the additional functions in the 2D simulation (either at the very end of the simulation or after a STOP with F8, e.g. if you are already interested in the roughness depth after roughing) with F11, right-click in the graphic or click on the magnifying glass symbol in the top right-hand corner of the header.

Then select F7 Elements and mark the element for which you want to determine the roughness depth Rth. In addition to the geometric information for this element (start point, end point, length, angle), the Rth value is also displayed at the bottom then.
